'Susan' World Premiere Announced

Kirkpatrick & Kinslow Productions is excited to announce that its newest feature documentary Susan will make its World Premiere at the deadCenter Film Festival in Oklahoma City.

From Director Russ Kirkpatrick, Produced By, p.g.a., the film tells the story of Susan Suchan, a woman who becomes trapped in a mid-life nightmare when she receives an unexpected diagnosis. “We are extremely grateful to the programmers at the deadCenter Film Festival for recognizing that Susan Suchan’s story will resonate with people all over the globe,” Kirkpatrick said. “Susan’s lived experience is impacting dialogue about the subject matter of the film: frontotemporal dementia (FTD).”

The “life and death” themed documentary, filmed over the course of several years, blends observational and subtly performative elements. Susan’s humor often drives the conversation in unconventional ways, offering a unique perspective to an often overlooked disease and its impact on caregivers.

The Susan feature documentary has received media attention from wide-ranging outlets, including Inside Edition from CBS, WTMJ in Milwaukee, Tulsa World, and News on 6 - KOTV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The film is also working with the Association of Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) to help share resources to those impacted by the disease, as well as their families and care partners.

Susan is from Kirkpatrick & Kinslow Films, with Mr. Kirkpatrick directing and Andy Kinslow executive producing, along with an entirely Oklahoma-based film crew who assisted with filming in multiple states.

Kirkpatrick & Kinslow and the Susan documentary property are represented by Wendy Drummond in the entertainment law division of Drummond Law, with copyright clearance from Amy E. Mitchell, PLLC.

Plans for distribution will be announced soon.
